Helen and Olly’s PRESS office

Helen and Olly on Sky News Unplugged

As well as our ‘duties’ producing our weekly podcast, fraternizing with ‘the DIY comedy movement’, and other shit that makes us NO money, we occasionally appear on other people’s TV and radio shows, and write articles for publication. And we love it! So if you’re a member of the press and you’d like to approach us, just email us, and we promise we won’t read it out on the podcast. Or make fun of your name. (Publicly, at least.)

We’ve also been lucky enough to have lots of people write nice things about us in the press, or on their websites. So we thought we’d keep a little archive of everything here, along with advance warning of our forthcoming appearances. Enjoy!

  • ANSWER ME THIS! IN THE PRESS
  • 2008
22nd February - The London Paper reviews Answer Me This! on their blog. They call our show “beautifully, ridiculously funny.” Thanks!

22nd January - Podwatch podcast gives Answer Me This! a 9/10 rating, claiming we are “what podcasting is all about: raw and rough around the edges, but damned entertaining and addictive”:

13th January - Our article for the Daily Telegraph’s Digital Life section, about our iTunes-based publicity stunt, is published. Happily, we manage to get the phrase “like famous people and vegetables, busking is a rare sight in Luxembourg” printed in a national newspaper.

    2007
8th December - We are Critic’s Choice in the Radio Times, alongside Melvyn Bragg’s In Our Time podcast, and The Guardian’s Book Club podcast. We’re not sure we’re worthy to be included amongst this company, but, by God, we certainly offer more laughs.

11th November - We are ‘Going Up’, according to the Sunday Express’s Trendometer! They say AMT is “independently produced and way funnier than most of the BBC big guns”.

13th June - The Independent recommends us in its ‘Download This’ section.

1st June - Our article about how we met, and fell in, um, like is printed in All The Rage, the brilliant and “most accidentally read PDF magazine on the Internet”.

24th March - The Times names us as ‘Podcast of the Week’ in its arts supplement The Knowledge. “Most podcasts are just two people wittering about random rubbish”, the review says, “but some duos do it very well.”

16th March - The Financial Times, understandably tired of all that boring business news, find space to report on our Christmas pudding auction, which netted £64 for Comic Relief. It’s a “heart-warming tale”, they say.

4th March - Lisa Mullen of Time Out magazine becomes officially the first journalist to write something about our podcast. And it’s something nice! Well done that woman. We are, she says, ‘Podcast of the Week’, a “genuinely funny and likeable pair” and “well worth a listen”.

    2008
14 May - Helen and Olly are guests on new web chat show, Sky News Unplugged. Along with UFO expert Nick Pope and MP Ian Cawsey, bassist in ‘the world’s only parliamentary rock group’ MP4, they discuss singing to Tony Blair and mysterious objects flying over Stanmore. WATCH IT HERE, or download it as a podcast.

25 April - Olly appears on Sky.Com News and covers a traditional mix of highbrow culture (Shakespeare) and utter dirt (the government logo which looks like a man wanking).

1st April - Olly appears on Sky.Com News to talk about April Fools Day pranks, but is cut short by some ‘news’ from ‘Zimbabwe’. Ah, whatevs.

20th March - Helen blogs for Sky.Com News, and appears on the show to discuss the new craze of ‘Rick-Rolling‘, which is only really funny if you link a very serious bit of text to the video in question. Cancer. See?

19th March - Olly does the newspaper preview on Sky News, and probably ruins our chances of ever being in the Daily Express again.

18th March - Helen is on Sky News for the newspaper preview, and claims that Heather Mills came out of court dressed like a clown. Outrageous.

12th March - Olly guests on Sky.Com News, presenting a weird and wonderful selection of stories off the net, including the ‘opportunity’ to be buried in a giant pyramid with randoms off the Internet. Ooh, me first!

20th February - Olly guests on Sky.Com news, and discusses his undisputed specialist subject - the dance music of the Ivory Coast.

7th February - Helen is back on Sky.Com/News, chatting about parents confusing their babies with booze and blogging about the former lives of celebs.

17th January - It’s our first ever joint TV appearance, as guests on Sky.Com News. We discuss our amazing adventure in Luxembourg, and generally have a jolly time.

    2007
7th July - We are guests on JCast, the podcast of the Jewish Community Centre, London, (since renamed ‘Sounds Jewish’ and produced in association with The Guardian):
